  1. How do I clean my Cooking Grates?
    VCS Grills can be cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaning agent formulated for kitchen use, or a brass wire brush.
  2. Why does my BBQ have an additional quick disconnect fitting?
    The quick disconnect is for an optional side burner.
  3. Can I convert my Vermont Castings™ grill from a Propane tank to a Natural Gas connection?
    Yes, all Vermont Castings™ grills are able to be converted from Propane to Natural Gas. Also known as 'field fuel convertible'. Conversion MUST be performed by a licensed technician.
  4. Can I install the VCS5000BI indoors with a hood canopy exhaust over the grill?
    No, all Vermont Casting grills are certified and approved to be installed for outdoor use only. Consult the installation manual for proper clearances.

Patio Fires

  1. How many hours of use can I expect with the Patio Fire using a 20lb. Propane cylinder?
    Approximately 6 hours.
  2. If not using one of Vermont Castings™ optional bases (Villa or Chalet) how does Vermont Castings™ recommend a stone enclosure be built and located?
    As long as local codes, minimum and maximum dimensions to combustibles And common sense are adhered to, there are no restrictions.
  3. Is there a recommended minimum or maximum height for a custom brick surround?
    No minimum or maximum
  4. Do you have to make provisions between a brick or stone surround for air supply to the base of the burner?
    No. However, there should be a little space between the outside sheet metal band that is around the burner assembly and the custom enclosure in case the burner would have to be removed. I would say at least an 1/8 inch.
  5. Can I locate the burner unit directly on a wooden deck if not using a Vermont Castings™ base?
    Yes

Outdoor Fireplaces

  1. What type of chimney is used on the Al Fresco Outdoor Fireplace ODSHR42?
    The ODSHR is certified and approved to use CF-11 and SK-8 chimney systems manufactured by CFM. The CF-11 chimney system is only certified and approved for use in the United States.
  2. Can I install the ODSHR indoors?
    Yes, the ODSHR can be installed indoors but is approved for use only in the United States. This system requires a CF-11 chimney system for indoor applications.
